Pastor Randy’s Top 66 – 2 Kings

  |   Words of Grace

“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lordopened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.   2 Kings 6:16-17

As Elisha and his servant awoke one morning they discovered that the city was completely surrounded by the enemy. The servant began to panic because he naturally figured that two of them were no match when compared to an entire army.

But the servant was only looking at his circumstances and his situation in the natural; Elisha, on the other hand, had the faith to believe that if the Lord had called them to be victorious and safe, then Elisha, the servant, and the Lord made a majority.

Elisha then calmly asked the Lord to open the eyes of his servant to see things as they ‘really’ were, and to the servant’s surprise he discovered that the Lord’s Army had completely surrounded the armies of the king of Aram.

I pray that each of us who have trusted in Christ by His grace and Spirit will learn to ‘walk by faith and not by sight’ (2 Corinthians 5:7) and trust that if the Lord calls us to a situation, then He will get us through it. ‘Greater is He who is in you, than he who is in the world’.  (1 John 4:4)
